Boston restaurants on Clover: know your busiest hours, best sellers and snow days

Marathon Monday, a nor’easter, the first week of the school year: Boston’s calendar moves your sales. Your Clover can tell you by how much, if you ask.

A city whose calendar shows up in your sales

The Boston Marathon is run on Patriots’ Day, the third Monday in April, according to the Boston Athletic Association. Boston Logan averages 49.2 inches of snow a year (NOAA climate normals, 1991–2020). And many neighborhoods fill and empty with the school year. Each of those leaves a mark in your Clover. Ordero Connect lets you see it without exporting a single report.

What is Ordero Connect?

Ordero Connect connects to your Clover point of sale, read only, and lets you ask about your sales in plain English (or Turkish). It adds up the figures from your own orders and answers with charts.

Every figure is worked out by Ordero from your orders, in your time zone; the AI explains them and suggests what to do, and is told to use only those figures.

Questions to ask your Clover in Boston

  • “How did Marathon week compare with the week before?” Sales, orders, average ticket and best sellers, side by side.
  • “What do snow days do to my sales?” Connect reads the weather at your ZIP code for every day and groups your sales by sunny, cloudy, rainy and snowy days, with the share of sales each brought in.
  • “Which hours are busiest on weekdays and on weekends?” Hour-by-hour sales, so the schedule follows the rush. The Massachusetts minimum wage is $15.00 an hour, and $6.75 for tipped service workers.
  • “How much meals tax and how much in tips did we collect this month?” Boston meals are taxed at 7%: the state’s 6.25% plus Boston’s 0.75% local option, in effect since October 1, 2009.
  • “What sells best at lunch and what sells best at dinner?” Best sellers by hour, by sales and by quantity.

How to connect your Clover

  1. Open [Ordero Connect](/connect) and sign in with your Ordero account, or create one in a few minutes.
  2. Try the sample data if you like: a made-up pizzeria with three months of orders, so you can ask anything before you connect.
  3. Make a read-only API token in your Clover web dashboard. Give it Read on Orders, Inventory and Merchant, plus Payments (for tips, tax and payment types) and Employees (for sales by staff). Paste it into Connect with your Merchant ID; Ordero checks it and connects.
  4. Start your subscription: $19.99 a month, paid through Stripe. The sample data stays free.
  5. Ask your first question. The first read of a month or more of orders takes the longest; after that, answers come back in seconds.

What it costs

Ordero Connect is $19.99 a month per restaurant, billed by Stripe, and you can cancel any time. You can try it free with sample data first, before you connect your own Clover. Nothing is ever written back to your Clover.

Is the weather data accurate for my street?

It is daily weather for your ZIP code (or city) from Open-Meteo: the weather type, the rain or snow and the high temperature. A day with at least 0.04 inches of rain counts as rainy.
